Caribbean stud poker is a casino table game similar to five-card stud poker. Unlike standard poker games, Caribbean Stud Poker puts you up against the dealer and not against other players as in traditional poker. Hence, there is no bluffing or other deception. The game starts by placing an ante on the marked spot on the table playing surface. Each player then is dealt 5 cards. The dealer also receives five cards of which only one card is face up - the other four will appear face down. You will be asked to either 'bet' or to 'surrender'. If you choose to bet, you bet twice the amount of the ante that your hand is better than that of the dealer. After all players have made their decisions, the dealer reveals his other cards.
Caribbean Stud Showdown
In order to qualify the dealer needs an ace + king, or any pair, straight or flush in his hand. If not, players win even money on the ante bet (even if the dealer's hand is better). If the dealer's hand does qualify, the better poker hand wins. If the dealer wins, the player forfeits raise and ante. If the player wins, he gets even money on the ante and is paid on the raise according to a pre-determined pay table. Bigger hands get bigger payouts.
