Gambling
Betting or staking something valuable on the outcome of a game or event. Commonly associated with gambling are sports betting, a host of playing-card and dice games, cockfighting, bingo, and lottery. In most gambling games it is customary to express the idea of probability in terms of odds against winning.
In the U.S., online casino gambling is legal in some states, whereas other states won't condone this kind of activity (also see Unlawful Internet Gambling Act. Lotteries are employed by many states to raise revenues, though.
