If you are new to the world of online Poker, the wealth of Poker related terminology might be a bit overwhelming at first. For that reason we have compiled this glossary. This list is not exhaustive, but we aim to provide you with a comprehensive reference that explains interesting and colorful internet terminology you are likely to encounter in the online casino world. Although it's not essential for you to be familiar with all these terms in order to play the game, they're still good to know.

  • Call
    Matching the amount of the latest bet on the online poker table.
  • Calling Station
    A player who calls a lot, but doesn’t raise or fold much. They do not think about other people's hands, but rather just want to see if their hand will win. They neither bluff much nor do they play aggressive; they just call a lot.
  • Cap or Capping
    Term that applies to online Limit Texas Holdem Poker. In a limit game, betting the last amount allowed before the maximum allowed number of raises is reached.
  • Capped
    When betting is no longer allowed in a round because the maximum amount of raises has been reached.
  • Card Cap
    An object (usually a chip) placed on top of your two pocket cards to show that you have a hand in play. Also referred to as a "marker".
  • Cash Out
    Cashing in your chips and leaving the online Poker table.
  • Check
    To pass your turn to bet in online Poker, provided that there are no previous bets pending.
  • Check Raise
    To waive the right to bet until a bet has been made by an opponent, and then to increase the bet by at least an equal amount when it is your turn to act.
  • Chips
    These small discs (token) are used in lieu of currency at Poker tables. For table games like Poker they usually are made of compression molded clay that exist in various denominations. Casino tokens are also widely used as play money in casual or tournament games.
  • Clubs
    One of the four playing card suits in online Poker. Formerly representing the working class.
  • Cold Call
    Calling more than one bet in a single action. For example, suppose instead of just calling the first player to act after the big blind raises. In order to stay in the game, all other the player acting after that must call two bets "cold." This is different from calling merely a single bet and then calling a subsequent raise.
  • Community Cards
    Communal cards in online Poker dealt face up for all players to use.
  • Cut
    To divide the deck into two sections in such a manner as to change the order of the cards.
  • Cut-Off Seat
    The player to the right of the dealer button at the online Poker table
