For those of you just starting out online gambling, we have developed this comprehensive online casino gambling glossary to help you understand the most widely used terms and definitions in the online gambling world. Of course, it is not essential to be familiar with all these terms in order to play, but they're still good to know. Have fun.

  • Wager
    The money that a player bets is called the wager.
  • Wagering Requirement
    Wagering Requirements are used in conjunction with casino bonuses or the casino’s policy and represents the number of times you have to playthough either the bonus or the bonus + the deposit at an online casino before you are eligible to withdraw any of your funds.

    Such conditions will be how much you have to wager, and what games are permitted and prohibited from play. Playthrough requirements can range between 10x for the less strict bonuses and up to 40x for the more strict bonuses.

    The number that represents the amount of playthough required for a bonus is typically assigned by the risk management team representing the casino. Generally the more generous the bonus, or if it's too good to be true it's likely that they will have imposed a larger wagering requirement for the bonus.   • Welcome Bonus
    A Welcome Bonus is a promotion that is available to new casino players. They are not automatic and they do not have to be redeemed. Welcome Bonuses may vary in size and wagering requirements depending on which offer you specifically go for.
  • Whale
    A player who makes extremely large bets. Unlike high rollers who consistently wager $100 or more per round, whales are typically those who make wagers amounting to thousands of dollars or more per round.
  • Wild Card
    A playing card whose value can vary as determined by its holder. This card can have any value, suit, color, or other property in a game at the discretion of the player holding it.
  • Wild Symbol [Slots]
    In Slots, an icon or symbol that will take the face of any symbol that is needed in order to make a winning combination. This free symbol is like a joker or wild card in card games only for slot machines. It can act as any symbol on the slot machine.
  • Winning Combination [Slots]
    The specific order of symbols on the front of the slot machine triggering a payout. This can be three cherries, two cherries and a grape, depending on what the slot machine is set up for.
  • Withdrawal
    A request you make to receive money from your account (also see payment methods).
  • Withdrawal Balance
    The amount of funds in your casino account that you can withdraw.
