  • Early Surrender
An option that allows you to surrender before the dealers checks for a blackjack. You may give up or surrender after receiving your first two cards before the dealer checks for an Ace in the hole. If surrendered, only half of the initial bet is lost. This is an excellent method for controlling player losses, but not allowed in some casinos.
  • Edge
An advantage over an opponent (also see House Edge).
  • Encryption
A software security measure taken by online casinos to ensure that online transactions are safe from hackers.
  • Even Bet
Even Money or Even Money Bet is a bet that will pay you back the same amount that you wagered, plus your original wager. A bet whose odds are 1:1 shown as a ratio of 1:1 (fifty-fifty chance of winning).
  • Even Money [Black Jack]

Anytime a player receives the same amount that he/she wagered, plus the original wager. This results in a clear net gain of one bet. There are two instances where this may happen:

    • When the player takes insurance even while holding a Blackjack. Some casinos will allow the player to be paid without actually placing the insurance bet. This is called taking even money.
    • This betting option is also extended when the player has a Blackjack, and the dealer shows an Ace, presenting a possible Blackjack. "Even Money" means that the dealer will pay your blackjack 1:1 rather than the usual 3:2. It assures a win for the player, although at a lower payout.
