This Blackjack reference explains terms & expressions used by players and casinos around the world. This list is not intended to be exhaustive, but here you can read up on those expressions that you'll most likely encounter when playing Blackjack. You'll probably find that you can play the game knowing only a handful of the expressions listed here. But if you are interested in knowing a bit more about Blackjack and its interesting and colorful Blackjack terminology, then by all means, read on. Enjoy!

  • Tapped Out
    Busted, broke, out of money.
  • Third Base
    The seat to the dealer's right. This is the last seat to be dealt.
  • Tie
    Dealer and player have a hand with an identical numerical value. No one wins or loses. See Push.
  • Tilt
    A term used by gamblers to refer to the process of losing control over gambling. Going 'on tilt' is a bad reaction to an unlucky course of the game resulting in uncontrolled wild play.
  • Twenty One (21)
    The desired total of blackjack (the highest possible hand value). Sometimes used synonymously as a nickname for the game of Blackjack.
